19 February - Camberwell - East Dulwich

Day 49

Rider: Andy/Grant
Bike: Tifosi fixed and a shit old yellow bike that i have no idea of the make.
Location: Camberwell - East Dulwich
Cycled down to Lucas for breakfast with Grant.
Conditions: Wet
Total Mileage: Approx 2 miles if that
Time: 11am
Food: Tea, Latte, Scrambled Egg on Toast, Almond croissant, Tea, Brunch at Lucas http://lucasbakery.com, Pasta and Carbonara, Innocent Pot with Chicken, Activia Yoghurt.
Bike Maintenance: With the Kentish Killer a day away i needed to get my bike in good shape. I was still having problems with the rear derauilleur hitting the spokes when in the lowest gear and desperately needed to sort this out before the first sportive of the season. No way was i going to try and attempt all the hills without being able to go into the lowest gear. It took me bloody ages, but finally i managed to get it to run in the lowest gear - sadly at the expense of going in the largest gear, but to be honest there are going to be so many bloody hills i think i can cope with that. New brake blocks and a good clean mean i now have a bike that should see me through the pain of this 73 mile event.

18 February - Camberwell - Holborn

Day 48

Rider: Andy
Bike: Cannondale road bike
Location: Camberwell - Holborn - Camberwell
Conditions: Dry
Total Mileage: 10 miles (5 each way).
Time: 8.37am
Food: 2x Kiwi, Weetabix and Honey, Juice, Tea, M&S Porcine Mushroom Fettucine, Protein Bar, Tea, Chicken and roasted veg, Activia Yoghurt, 2 x glass red wine.
Idiots encountered: It still amazes me at the amount of cyclists that go through red lights and everyday it does appear that i am just about the only person who stops. Why is it that some cyclists think that the law doesn't apply to them. How can they complain about motorists using their mobiles when driving, or pedestrians walking out in front of them, when they so blatantly flout the law themselves.

17 February - Camberwell - holborn

Day 47

Rider: Andy
Bike: Cannondale road bike
Location: Camberwell - Holborn - Camberwell
Conditions: Dry
Total Mileage: 10 miles (5 each way).
Time: 8.37am
Food: 2x Kiwi, Weetabix and Honey, Juice, Tea, M&S Salmon & Veg, Protein Bar, Tea, Beans, Activia Yoghurt, Ovaltine.
Idiots encountered: There are always some idiots around, but today it wasn't so much idiots that cought my attention. As i was cycling home I tagged onto the back of another guy on a road bike, waiting for him to try and zoom off into the distance. While waiting, we were both overtaken by what human whisk on a Boris bike. Yes, a bloody Boris bike. The guy was spinning so fast, he shot by us and left us for dead. I thought the guy in front was going to put his foot down and remedy the situation, but he didn't. Not satisfied with being humiliated, I sprinted after the Boris blaggard and put him firmly in his place. Come on - do you blame me. It's worse than being past by a girl.
For Sale: Ourly Grips - unused. Taken out of packet to try them on my fixed, but haven't used them. Any offers?

16 February - Camberwell - Holborn

Day 46

Rider: Andy
Bike: Tifosi Fixed
Location: Camberwell - Holborn - Camberwell
Conditions: Dry and cold
Total Mileage: 10 miles (5 each way).
Time: 8.37am
Food: 2x Kiwi, Weetabix and Honey, Juice, Tea, Falafel, Taboulleh and Houmous, Banana, Cod with vegetables, Tea, Activia Yoghurt, Ovaltine.
Idiots encountered: Oh plenty, don't get me started. Why are (gross generalisation coming) bus drivers such w...........rs? The same breed as, white van, postal, taxi, and mincab (especially Addison Lee) drivers. It seems that cyclists are just invisible. In the last few days I have nearly been run into the kerb and crushed by both Addison Lee drivers and the P13 bus and all within a few hundred yards of my front door. What is it with these impatient bastards? Impatience is a common cause of accidents - everyone wanting to get from A-B as quickly as possible, but somewhere along the line we have to remember we are not the only ones using the road and we have to show respect to other road users.

I would have chased after the bus driver but was carrying my shopping on my handlebars so it would not have been wise.
