We were able to start from the campsite and cycle out to the begin our ride. We followed
a trail from 'North York Moors, Mountain biking' by Tony Harker, the same book that we got the trail for Rosedale & Fryup. It was going to be a fairly quick ride as we were hoping to leave for our journey back to London around 4pm. That meant not doing to whole route, but did mean we would have time to stop in Helmsley for some refreshments.
Ok - which way is it - Come on Grant stop dawdling.
Ok - so we did end up going the wrong way. This is us coming back through the gate again after riding about a mile in the wrong direction.
Somewhere over the rainbow - On our way to Helmsley.
Ham, Egg and chips, a latte and cake. :)))))
Al and Helmsley Castle in the background.
On the way back from Helmsley to Rievieux we had to go down some steep steps and then up
another set of steps. It was inevitable that we would have to carry bikes up. Grant was the only one of us who managed to cycle down the steps without putting his foot down.
Al approaching the campsite. It was then down with the tents and back to the big smoke.
