Day 5 - Ride to Volcanic Sulphur Baths – Saturnia

It wasn't long before we needed a cafe stop to get out of the rain.

Saturnia

Saturnia is a spa town in Tuscany in north-central Italy that has been inhabited since ancient times. It is a frazione of the comuneof Manciano, in the province of Grosseto. Saturnia takes its name from the Roman godSaturn(us). Legend has it that he grew tired of the constant wars of humans, and sent a thunderbolt to earth that created a magic spring of warm sulphurous water which would pacify mankind.

Inaki, Grant, Andy and Al arrive wet and ready to take to the hot spring.

Day 3 – Cycle to Bagni San Filippo

The road back out of the town was very very steep. (really does not look very steep in this photo).

Before we headed off to the thermal spa we went to a fabulous place for lunch. I couldn't resist a photo of some of the old blokes sat chatting and probaly thinking why is that lycra clad biker taking our picture. The restaurant was full of character.
