The Isère river This River has a world famous reputation for top level Kayakists. The brand new slalom course at Bourg- st - Maurice hosted the world canoe-kayak championships in 2004. Its source is at the Iseran mountain pass and it is alimented by the snow melt of the glaciers of the Vanoise National Park which turn it into a surging torrent. The river is controlled by the hydro-electric dam at Tignes which regulates the water releases between the beginning of may until the end of september. The section between Bourg Saint Maurice and Centron offers a amazing variety of whitewater with the notorious Aime rapids in the middle of the trip followed by the stunning Pucelle Gorge and finishing with the Centron rapids. Rafting at Moutier with Franceraft - 9 June 2010
Get out of the raft now!
It was our day off cycling - mmmmmm what could we do. Why don't we go white water rafting down a 22km grade 1V course - cool, lets do it.
Ade drove us down to the centre and left us to throw ourselves to the mercy of the water and our guide, Robbie. He was great and put us through our paces before we hit the water, infact the whole crew at Franceraft were very welcoming.
So once we had all paid up it was off to get out kit off :)))) and then put on the old wetsuits.
Ade was happy to wait until we were togged up before he left us to the water.

We were all kitted out apart from me - not sure why i didn't have all my gear on,
but we were all about to get very wet indeed.
Robbie took us to the raft so we could be taught the rules of white water rafting on land before
we hit the water.

The drive to the start
Denzil was happy wandering around in his trunks.
